The flood of November 4-5, 1985, brought destruction to Parsons when the Cheat River crested at 21 feet on November 5, 1985, at 3:00 a.m., far above flood stage of 13 feet. It is remembered in honor of those who survived, in memory of those who died, and with gratitude to all who assisted with the flood recovery, including Raymond D. Bonner, Dorothy M. Bonner, Stelman W. Harper, Harry L. Harper, and Blaine C. Dumire.
