A photo shows the trestle bridge over the Saline River in 1900, facing south. In 1936, automobile manufacturer Henry Ford had the bridge torn down so he could construct a reservoir and dam by diverting the river to a new channel. The current City Hall stands where the electric generator was housed. The house in the background is still standing and has not changed much in 80 years. A dedication for the new Saline River Bridge was held on July 23, 1937.
