About 1825, a one-room log cabin stood on this site as the first Methodist church in this area. Many worshipped here during the Civil War. The building was destroyed by a snow storm in 1886. Later a schoolhouse was erected here. This site served as a place of worship until it was destroyed by a flood in 1890.
