The Miller Barn in Valley Creek Park was built in 1921-22 by August Miller and is a prime example of the early 20th century barns that were integral to the agricultural heritage of Woodbury and greater Minnesota. Distinct in its architectural expression, it combines a gambrel, or "Dutch," roof with a bank style built into a hill so the upper and lower floors can be accessed at ground level. Its construction used the post and beam technique, securing joinery with wooden pegs rather than modern nail framing. The farmstead dates back to 1850, and families who lived there included the Childs, Munsons, Muellers, Millers, Freidrichs, Janokovichs, and Bames. One of the few remaining barns in Woodbury, it was restored in 2021 by the City of Woodbury in partnership with the Inez Oehlke Legacy Fund, Woodbury Heritage Society, Minnesota Historical Society, and the Minnesota Legacy Amendment's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, with the project financed in part by State of Minnesota funds provided through the Minnesota Historical Society.
