ATSF Locomotive No. 3416 was purchased in July 1919 from Baldwin Locomotive Works at Eddystone, Pennsylvania, at a cost of $69,000. It was used in passenger service on the Illinois and Missouri Divisions of the Eastern Lines, all divisions of the Western Lines, and the Northern Division of the Gulf Lines. It was converted from coal to oil fueling in October 1939 and retired from service in November 1953. Donated to the City of Great Bend on this 18th day of Sept., 1956 by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company, it had operated a total of 2,262,673 miles. Its engine and tender weighed 419,003 pounds, and its tender held 7,000 gallons of oil and 20,000 gallons of water. Its wheel diameter was 79 inches, its cylinder diameter 25 inches, its piston stroke 28 inches, its tractive force 41,400 pounds, its boiler diameter 78 inches, its firebox 114 inches by 84¼ inches, and its boiler pressure 220 per square inch.
