John Bond was a pioneer of South Mississippi. He served as a captain in the War of 1812 from 1813 to 1815, later became a lieutenant colonel in the militia, and served as a member of the territorial legislature in 1815 and 1817. He also served as a state legislator in 1838 and 1839.
