The Crown Point Public Library opened at this location in February 1908 after Andrew Carnegie donated $12,000 for construction on the condition that the community would contribute annually to library maintenance. In January 1973, a new library facility on Court Street was dedicated adjoining the Carnegie Building. The building was then renamed Carnegie Center and continues to serve residents of the Crown Point area.
