Patriots who were original members of the Society of the Cincinnati in the State of New Jersey are buried in this churchyard: Lieutenant James Anderson, Lieutenant Colonel David Rhea, Colonel Nathaniel Scudder, Ensign Moses Sprowl, Captain George Walker, and Captain John Holmes in Holmdel. They pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor that men might be free, during 1776 to 1783.
