Siloah Cemetery served the community of Siloah, whose name, meaning "Sent," came from the biblical Pool of Siloah where Jesus healed a blind man after coating his eyes with clay. In 1882, August Wolf of the German Lutheran congregation at Siloah donated five acres for a church, parsonage, school, and cemetery. Pastor Johannes Michael Haag conducted the first service on January 7, 1883, and the first burial followed on May 17 with the interment of Louis Wolf. In October 1916, church trustees purchased property in McDade, and the next month part of the original five acres was sold back to its original owners, leaving a little under three acres for the cemetery. After construction was completed in 1917, the second Siloah church served McDade and nearby communities. A fire in 1923 destroyed the church, and a small church rebuilt on the same site later disbanded in 1944. On April 13, 1962, the congregation reorganized as Faith Lutheran Church and dedicated a new brick building on November 17, 1968. In 2015, two acres from the original August Wolf donation were deeded back to the Siloah Cemetery Association. The cemetery preserves the graves of military veterans and early families whose faith and perseverance formed a close-knit community, and it remains the only surviving link to what had once been a thriving community.
