Robert T. Brown Nature Sanctuary is a 19-acre protected wetland in Houghton County, Michigan, maintained by the Michigan Nature Association. Centered on a small pond and bordered by black spruce, tamarack, and white cedar swamp forest, it is named for Dr. Robert Thorson Brown, a Michigan Technological University biological sciences professor who retired in 1983 and helped choose the site shortly before his death. The sanctuary is especially valued for its fen flora, including leather leaf, bog-rosemary, Labrador tea, cranberries, and carnivorous plants such as pitcher plant, round-leaved sundew, and hidden-fruited bladderwort, which adapt to nutrient-poor conditions by trapping small prey.
