Mizzou Botanic Garden spans the University of Missouri campus in Columbia, weaving thousands of plants through gardens, quadrangles, tree collections, and landscaped spaces rather than a single enclosed site. Its character comes from joining horticultural displays with prominent university landmarks, including the Columns of Academic Hall and Thomas Jefferson’s original grave marker in the Jefferson Garden. The garden includes an arboretum in McAlester Park, themed gardens, native tree collections, self-guided tree trails, and the historic Wildlife Pond, first developed in the 1920s and later planted with native Missouri water species. Together these features make it both a public garden and an integral part of campus identity.
