Born northeast of Anson on March 19, 1906, Omar Burleson attended AHS, ACU, HSU, and Cumberland University. He was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1929, served as county attorney from 1931 to 1934, county judge from 1934 to 1940, worked for the FBI from 1940 to 1941, served as a lieutenant commander in the USNR from 1942 to 1946, and served in the U.S. Congress from 1947 to 1978. He died on May 14, 1991.
