Native Kansas artist John Steuart Curry, best known for the murals he painted in the Kansas State Capital building, was born in 1897 and raised in Jefferson County. He lived in this home until 1914. The home was located 6 miles north of Oskaloosa near Dunavant, and it was moved to Old Jefferson Town in 1990, where it showcases Curry's life and works.
