Margaret Cochran Corbin, a heroine of the Revolution, was born on Nov. 12, 1751, near Rocky Spring, 1½ miles to NW. She accompanied her husband to war and manned a cannon at Fort Washington, N.Y., on Nov. 16, 1776, when he was killed. She was wounded, pensioned, and assigned to Invalid Regt. She died Jan. 16, 1800, and was buried at West Point, N.Y.
