Established in 1989 as the University of Maryland, Baltimore County’s Fine Art Gallery, the Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture is the university’s main exhibition venue and a major center for contemporary art and arts education. Serving students, faculty, staff, and the public, it presents exhibitions and programs on visual culture and broader cultural and aesthetic questions. Its main gallery is in the Fine Arts Building, with additional exhibition space at the Albin O. Kuhn Library & Gallery. It also organizes traveling exhibitions, publishes arts-related media, leads K–12 outreach and campus education initiatives, and oversees the Joseph Beuys Sculpture Park.
