Windsor Meadows State Park in Windsor, Connecticut, occupies three mostly undeveloped parcels on the west bank of the Connecticut River between the river and railroad tracks. Its riparian forest and flood plain are valued for preserving a landscape much like the one Adriaen Block and his crew encountered when they sailed up the river in 1619. Acquired by Connecticut in 1968 and recognized as a conservation area by 1969, the site has expanded modern recreation while retaining much of its natural character. It offers picnicking, fishing, boating, hiking, and biking, and includes the Windsor River Trail, the Bissell Bridge Walkway Trail connection, and a boat launch.
