Soda Mountain Wilderness
Nature
Soda Mountain Wilderness is a federally protected wilderness area in southern Oregon within the Cascade–Siskiyou National Monument near the California border. It preserves a mountainous part of the monument, including peaks such as Boccard Point. The area gained formal wilderness protection through the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009, which President Barack Obama signed into law on March 30, 2009. That designation secured added protection for land already recognized for its natural value within the monument, and it remains one of Oregon’s protected wild areas.
