Selway National Forest in Idaho was established by the U.S. Forest Service on July 1, 1911, from parts of Clearwater National Forest and Nez Perce National Forest. It encompassed 1,802,000 acres, about 7,290 square kilometers. The forest remained under that name until October 29, 1934, when its lands were redistributed among Bitterroot, Clearwater, Lolo, and Nez Perce national forests. After that reorganization, Selway National Forest ceased to exist as a separate national forest.
