Farmington, New Mexico, was first settled from 1876 to 1878 by the families of William and Marion B. Hendrickson, Charles and Milton Virden, Orville Pyle, A.F. Miller, and William Lock. The first school-house was built in 1879, and the Methodist Episcopal Church was built in 1886. William Lock started the fruit industry. After Latter-day Saints moved into the community, Camera B. Palmer, Sarah Jensen, and Lydia S. Wade held Sunday School in their homes until a branch was organized in 1930, and the ward was organized in 1932.
