Cridersville was established in 1856, and as the village grew, a local one-room school was built in 1866 on East Main Street. Continued growth led to a larger school on South Waverly Street in 1875, which was replaced in 1907. In 1939, a much larger and more modern school was built on East Main Street to house grades 1-12. It served generations of Cridersville students until 1966, when the last senior class graduated. In 1965, the local school merged with the Wapakoneta School District. The Cridersville building then served as an elementary school for local students until 2009, when it was replaced by a new school on Reichelderfer Road, and the Main Street school site became Legacy Park.
