A Confederate veterans memorial at Oak Grove Cemetery is dedicated to remembering and honoring Confederate veterans who endured hardship for their homes, their wives, and their sweethearts, and calls for prayer, remembrance, and teaching children the meaning of freedom, honor, respect, and sacrifice so that those veterans are not forgotten. It names Lewis H. Bates, William P. Bell, Andrew Young Caruthers, Edward Jackson Caruthers, James Thomas Caruthers, William Wright Caruthers, Hiram Crenshaw, James William Crenshaw, Musco E. Crenshaw, Dr. Joshua Riley Ellis, John Gamble, Stephen James Gamble, William James Gamble, Joseph G. Hall, Samuel Henderson Hyatt, John R. Lee, Frank H. McDermet, George Crawford Nix, L.T. Slive, Antone G. Rutherford, James Ervin Scott, Samuel James Scott, John Hearndon Scott, S.H. Shepard, Wiliam P. Tompkins, Charles Thorn Wall, H.R. Wilson, and John T. Vining, and identifies their Confederate units from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee, including the St. Johns Rangers.
