Dedicated in F. C. and L. to the Union soldiers and sailors of the war 1861 - 1865, this memorial was erected May 30, 1913. A Civil War cannon replica was dedicated Dec. 7, 1976 by Holton National Guard, V.F.W., and Amer. Leg., courtesy of Denison and KS State Banks and the people of Jackson County. The original cannon was donated to the W.W.II scrap drive Sept. 8, 1942 as a Bicentennial project.
