Pearl River Wildlife Management Area is a 35,619-acre protected landscape in southeastern Louisiana near Slidell, spanning much of the lower Pearl River basin between the Pearl and Old Pearl rivers. Managed by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, it forms part of a larger connected conservation corridor with Bogue Chitto National Wildlife Refuge, strengthened by the 2002 Lower Pearl Partnership and major land acquisition for the refuge. The area is especially important for species unique or rare to the basin, including the ringed map turtle, alligator snapping turtle, Pearl River map turtle, and Louisiana quillwort, while also supporting diverse birds, mammals, and wetland wildlife.
