Abkhazi Garden in Victoria, British Columbia, is a small public garden closely tied to the lives of Prince Nicolas Abkhazi and Princess Marjorie “Peggy” Abkhazi, whose reunion after wartime separation led them to create it beginning in 1946. Over decades they shaped an intimate landscape of winding gravel and stone paths, mature rhododendrons, and shade-loving plants, with a tea house at its centre. After their deaths, The Land Conservancy of British Columbia acquired the property to preserve it as both a garden and a memorial. Later heritage debates and a 2022 proposal sought stronger protection for this celebrated part of Victoria’s garden culture.
