Rockwall Farm was a colonial mansion built in 1854, fifty yards north. It served as an overnight stop on W.T. Brooks' stageline from Monroe, La., to Tyler via Pine Tree and Earpville post offices, both now in Longview. Enslaved people hewed lumber and made chimney bricks on site. The first floor partitions folded away to make a large ballroom for square dancing and fiddlers' contests. A favorite game table upstairs was a black walnut coffin made for the first owner, Thomas Harris. The last owners, the J. Roy Sparkman and J. Jack Castleberry families, restored the house and opened it to visitors before it burned in 1952.
