The Haleyville Ice Company operated on this site from 1912 to 1957, producing 300-pound blocks of ice that were cut into appropriate sizes and delivered to homes and businesses. The plant underwent technological improvements and modernization over the years and served the community until home and business refrigeration became possible. Owned, built, and operated by Arthur Dillard Sr., a longtime citizen of Haleyville, the company was a leader in its field for many years and helped support the modern growth of the city and surrounding area.
