Sergeant John O. Linton of Coalgate, Oklahoma, served with Company M, 3rd Battalion, 180th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division during the Naples-Foggia Campaign in World War II. He was wounded and captured in action in Italy on 30 December 1943 and died as a German prisoner of war on 20 January 1944.
