The Mounger Square, in the oldest section of Greensboro City Cemetery, was completely destroyed years ago when a tree fell and leveled all the monuments. Because the people buried there are of great historical significance, restoring the square to its full majesty became a priority of the Greensboro Cemetery Association. Those interred there are Mrs. Lucy Mounger, William Wiley Daniel Weaver and his wife Caroline Matilda Mounger Weaver, William H. Morgan and his wife Mary T. Morgan, Ann Leonora Andrew, wife of Rev. Bishop Andrew, Mary Eliza Smith, wife of Rev. Luther A. Smith, Ellen Lenora Wynn Smith, aged 4 years, 6 months, 12 days, two unknown graves, and Revolutionary War soldier Ben J. Weaver.
