The World War service of local men was honored, and special remembrance was given to those who did not return: Corporal O. Leo Curtiss of Company M, 7th Infantry, 3rd Division, killed in action at Chateau-Thierry on July 25, 1918; Private Albert J. Chestnut of Company A, 5th Machine Gun Battalion, 2nd Division, killed in action in Argonne Forest on October 10, 1918; and Private Wilber Crane of Company I, 4th Infantry, 3rd Division, killed in action at Meuse-Argonne Forest on October 31, 1918.
