The California Science Center in Exposition Park, Los Angeles, grew from a 1912 State Exhibition building into a major state-run museum that pairs hands-on science education with prominent aerospace collections. Renamed the California Museum of Science and Industry in 1951, it became increasingly interactive through exhibits such as Mathematica and later additions including health, earthquake, economics, and IMAX experiences. After earthquake damage prompted a rebuilding, the transformed center opened in 1998, retaining part of the original facade. Its free permanent galleries include major life and ecosystems displays, while its aircraft and spacecraft collection is crowned by Space Shuttle Endeavour and an expanding air and space center.
