Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona, beside Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, has grown from 48 aircraft when it opened in 1976 into one of the nation’s major aviation museums, with nearly 400 aircraft displayed across 80 acres. Its collection spans outdoor exhibits, six display hangars, restoration work, and space-related artifacts, while the Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame has been housed there since 1991. The site is closely linked to military aviation through the neighboring aircraft storage facility known as the Boneyard and through the associated 390th Memorial Museum. Continued expansion, recovery from financial trouble, and new projects have made it a major preservation center in the Southwest.
