George Riley Jones, a businessman, and his wife Margaret built this imposing Colonial Revival style home in 1901-1903 from a design by architect Alfred Grindle. The Joneses enjoyed and occupied the house during their lifetime. In 1940, George Geisler and his wife Bessie, who owned a downtown meat market, purchased the house, and a member of the Geisler family occupied it until 1980. In 1981, members of the Riley-Jones Club, Inc., bought the house to restore it and use it as a woman's club. Its authentic restoration became a fine example of adaptive reuse and a notable addition to the downtown area, showing how ownership can control the destiny of important buildings and preserving another landmark for posterity.
