Rough Rider State Park is a seasonal recreation area on the eastern bank of the Little Missouri River about two miles south of Medora in North Dakota. Set in the badlands of western North Dakota, it offers camping, horse camping, canoeing, river access, and equestrian facilities, and it serves as the starting point of the Maah Daah Hey Trail leading north toward Theodore Roosevelt National Park for hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. Renamed in 2024 from Sully Creek, it now draws its name from the Rough Riders and reflects Theodore Roosevelt’s connection to the region in the 1880s while also linking the park to the nearby Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library.
