Built around 1925 by Henry Kinder and his wife Hilda (Yanke), this Anne Arundel County farmhouse originally had four first-floor rooms: a living room, kitchen, dining room, and bedroom or children's playroom. Henry and Hilda raised eight children here, and for more than 50 years the house served as the heartbeat of the farm. In 1979, Henry Kinder's sons Edward, Henry, Albert, and Augustus sold the 288-acre parcel that included the house, and it became Kinder Farm Park. The house later served as the park office until the office moved to the Visitors Center in late 2010. A multi-year effort by the Friends of Kinder Farm Park and Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks aims to restore the exterior and first-floor interior to reflect a typical county farmhouse of the late 1930s and early 1940s.
