Built in 1906-08 by Carroll and Kate Purvines, who were from Illinois, the Purvines Ranch Home was constructed on land where lumber was scarce. It was made of cement blocks they formed by hand using local sand. It was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1964.
