The people of Perry Township dedicated this memorial to the enduring memory of the one hundred and fifty-one citizens who served in the Armed Forces in World War I and to the spirit and loyalty of the nine hundred and fifteen sons and daughters who served their country in World War II. A star of supreme sacrifice is placed before the names of those who died so that freedom should not perish. It is also dedicated to veterans of the War of 1812, the Civil War, the Spanish American War, the Mexican Wars, Korea, Vietnam, and those awarded the Expeditionary Medal since 1975, and it honors Civil War Medal of Honor recipient John S. Shellenberger as well as veterans unknown to the Honor Roll Committee.
