Little Picacho Wilderness is a 38,214-acre protected area in southeastern California, managed by the Bureau of Land Management in the lower Colorado River Valley between Yuma and Blythe. Set in a southeastern extension of the Chocolate Mountains beside the Colorado River, it is distinct from the more northeasterly Picacho Peak Wilderness. Its elevations range from about 200 to 1,500 feet and support varied desert wildlife, including the Picacho wild horse in its northwestern section, along with wild burro, desert tortoise, spotted bat, and desert bighorn sheep. The area is important for preserving desert mountain and river-margin habitat in a relatively undeveloped landscape.
