More than 85,000 diamonds have been found at the Crater of Diamonds, with an average of 600 found each year. Notable finds include the Uncle Sam at 40.23 carats in 1924, the Star of Arkansas at 15.33 carats in 1956, the Eisenhower at 6.11 carats in 1956, and the Gary Moore at 6.43 carats in 1960. More than 24,000 diamonds have been found since Crater of Diamonds State Park was established in 1972. Later notable finds include the Amarillo Starlight at 16.37 carats in 1975, the Lamle Diamond at 8.61 carats in 1978, the Star of Shreveport at 8.82 carats in 1981, the Conell Diamond at 7.95 carats in 1986, the Strawn-Wagner at 3.03 carats in 1990, the Cooper Diamonds at 6.72 and 6.0 carats in 1997, and the Dickinson/Stevens at 7.28 carats in 1998.
