Hill's Mill still stands on forty acres of land owned by the Hill family since before 1873. It was operated by Louis Hill until 1905 and by Josiah Hill from 1906 until 1910. Although it changed hands several times over the next 34 years, it returned to the Hill family in 1944 and operated as late as 1955. The mill served as a focal point for the community, whose members often visited to fish and swim in the pond. Corn was ground in a grist mill, cotton was ginned, and lumber and shingles were sawn, all using power generated by water flowing from the pond over the water wheel.
