William Lloyd Garrison edited the Journal of the Times fifty feet west of this spot from October 3, 1828 to March 27, 1829. Benjamin Lundy came there on December 6, 1828 to enlist him in the cause of the slave. Garrison departed from there to raise in Baltimore the banner of immediate emancipation.
