David Crockett Birthplace State Park occupies a one hundred five-acre site on the Nolichucky River near Limestone in East Tennessee at the traditional birthplace of Davy Crockett, born in 1786. The area had substantial Native American occupation long before Euro-American settlement and later became part of the Nolichucky Settlement. Although archaeological tests in 1977 found no clear evidence of the original Crockett cabin, they did uncover prehistoric and eighteenth- and nineteenth-century artifacts. The park’s best-known feature is a replica birthplace cabin built in the 1950s, and the site has grown into a memorial landscape honoring Crockett’s life, folklore, and frontier setting. It was heavily damaged by Hurricane Helene and remains closed.
