First Baptist Church of Headland was organized in 1867 as the Baptist Church of Christ at Bethlehem at 1 Cleveland Street. Reverend Thomas Scott was the first pastor, and William Whitehead was the first deacon. The church moved to East Church and Peachtree Street in 1893, then moved to its present site in 1909. Its name later changed to Headland Missionary Baptist Church and changed again to First Baptist Church of Headland in 1954.
