Town of Dawn
History
6
Dawn had the second post office in the county in 1889 and was named by pioneers who saw there the “Dawning of a New Country.” The Santa Fe Railroad station house, a box car, was the first building on the site in 1905. W.E. Neal and his sons developed the town in 1914 with a lumber yard, hotel, bank, and store, and it is now a center of the farming industry.
