Lake Snowden is a six hundred seventy-five-acre education and recreation park in southeast Ohio centered on a one hundred thirty-six-acre lake in the Margaret Creek Conservancy District. Created through the federally funded PL-566 Margaret Creek Watershed Project, it combined flood control and water supply with public recreation after the dam was completed in July 1970 and the lake opened in 1972. Since Hocking College bought it in 1998, the site has also supported fish management, aquaculture, and water-quality work. Its no-wake lake, trails, campsites, beach, fishing, and abundant wildlife make it an important blend of recreation, conservation, and education.
