Victorville, California
Transportation
1
From pre historic times through the 1800s, this was the main crossing of the old Indian Mojave Trail. Padre Garces in 1776, Jedediah Smith in 1826-27, and Kit Carson in the 1840s crossed here. Westward immigrants, Mormons, Army camels, and mule trains in the 1850s also passed this spot. Once known as Lane's Crossing in 1857, it later had Wells Fargo and Pony Express stations here. Early Victorville called this the Turner Ranch in 1883.
