Groezinger Winery, once known as one of the finest cellars in the state, was erected by Mr. G. Groezinger in 1870 on part of the original land grant made to Salvador Vallejo by the government of Mexico in 1838. Groezinger purchased a portion of the land from the George C. Yount Estate for 250 dollars in United States gold coin. The original boundary included the portion of the village of Yountville lying south of Madison Street. The winery was in use from 1870 to 1954, and over the next 100 years the buildings had very little alteration, with most of the original ones still standing on this 20 acre site.
