At the Old Borden Tavern, William W. Borden’s mother kept a tavern from 1824 to 1851. The tavern had been built in 1819, and as a memorial to his parents, William W. Borden incorporated the old tavern into the buildings of the Borden Museum. He erected the museum in 1900, and for some years it housed one of the rarest and most valuable collections in the state. The building is now used by Borden High School.
