At Johnson Farm in St. George, Utah, this fossil site preserves thousands of dinosaur footprints in the place where they were found, making the trackway itself the centerpiece alongside a museum. The discovery began accidentally on February 26, 2000, when retired optometrist Sheldon Johnson uncovered a rock surface bearing an exceptionally clear footprint. After realizing the find's significance, he and his wife, LaVerna, worked to protect the land for research and education, donated the tracks, and helped arrange city care of the property. Opened in 2005, the site also preserves bones, shells, and plant remains that reveal a nearly 200 million-year-old ecosystem with unusual clarity.
