Corn Crib
Industry
In the 1800's, a corn crib was used to dry and store corn. After harvesting, corn on the cob was placed in the crib, and air circulated through slats in the sides to dry it. The kernels were then removed from the cob and stored in barrels until the corn was used for milling into corn meal or as feed for livestock.
