The Southeast South Dakota Experiment Farm was organized on April 5th 1956 to conduct a research demonstration farm in Southeast South Dakota. Through the efforts of the Norgren family, farmers, and other interested people in Lincoln, Turner, Union, Clay, Yankton, Bon Homme, Hutchinson, Minnehaha, Charles Mix, and adjacent counties, the needed money was raised and the farm purchased. The farm is operated by the South Dakota State College Experiment Station in cooperation with the directors of the Southeast South Dakota Experiment Farm.
